Founded in 1578, Old names: Bayaba by the Spaniards; Strong Dolphin by the French. Place of the first unloading of the French in 1802. A division ordered by Rochambeau attacked the city and massacred the defenseurs of the fort of the city two days before the fire of the Cape ordered by Henri Christophe.
