North-East, Fort-Liberté

Founded in 1578, Old names: Bayaba by the Spaniards; Strong Dolphin by the Fort DauphinFrench. Place of the first unloading of the French in 1802. A division ordered by Rochambeau attacked the city and massacred the defenseurs of the fort of the city two days before the fire of the Cape ordered by Henri Christophe. District with two other communes.Situated on the Northern coast in bay bearing its name, and with some ten miles of the border separating Haiti with the Dominican Republic. 19:67:00 Northern Latitude 71:83:00 Western Longitude
