Information for obtaining a passport

 

Conditions

The Law does not allow the Haitians of origin who obtained another citizenship to hold an Haitian passport therefore you may have to present a proof of Haitian citizenship in order to apply for a new passport.

Documents needed

1- Expired passport

2- Original of the birth certificate or a copy certified with the original or a birth certificate of the National Archives

3- Two different forms of identity

4 Two (2) color pictures (passport size) no more than six (6) months, bearing the seal of the photographer and date. The bearer will register his/ her name on the back of the pictures

5- Other pieces according to the type of applicant :

- the original Marriage certificate if the applicant is a married woman.
- the Act of Divorce if the applicant is a divorced woman.
- the Death certificate of the husband if the woman is widowed.
- a parental authorization signed by one of the parents or the legal guardian if the request for passport is made by a minor.

Fees

A money order payable to the Embassy of Haiti, Washington D.C. No cash or credit card will be accepted.

The expenses for the emission of a passport are as follows;

Regular request:

money order of 65$US

Processing time

- 21 working days for a regular request (as from the date of tender of the documents and signature of the form of request)

- 1 working day for Urgency requests
