amb altidor ACFCAmbassador Altidor and his staff hosted a luncheon for Haitian teens from the Art Creation Foundation for Children (ACFC). The Art Creation Foundation functions as a non-profit organization that helps children in need from Jacmel. Their goal is to teach children how to be self-sufficient through arts and education, while instilling a sense of social responsibility and community within their region.

Ten of the ACFC Youth visited South Florida to teach mosaic arts and to create an installation dedicated to the people of Florida who have generously supported Haiti. This project is in collaboration with Toussaint L’Ouverture High School for Arts and Social Justice (TLHS) in Delray Beach, FL. The project is registered as an official event of Viva Florida, in celebration of 500 years of Florida’s history. A statewide initiative led by the Florida Department of State, to highlight the 500 years of Florida history, people, places and events in present-day Florida and to celebrate Diversity of culture.

Also, they presented a memorial piece dedicated to Haitian immigrants who have lost their lives making the journey from Haiti to Florida’s shores.
