On October 29th 2009, the government of Prime Minister Michèle Duvivier Pierre-Louis received a vote of no-confidence from the Senate. On October 30th 2009, HE President Préval acknowledged the Senate's position and nominated a new Prime Minister, Mr. Jean-Max Bellerive, who was Minister of Planning and External Cooperation in Mrs. Duvivier Pierre-Louis's government.

The Senate ratified that choice on Friday November 6th 2009 and the Chamber of Deputies on Saturday November 7th 2009.

Mr. Bellerive composed a new cabinet and presented the Government's General Policy Declaration to the Senate on Monday November 9th 2009, and to the Chamber of Deputies on Tuesday November 10th 2009.

On Wednesday November 11th 2009, Mr. Bellerive was installed as the new Prime Minister of Haiti. The inauguration ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace.
