DESCRIPTION:As part of its mission to share Haiti’s rich culture and history with the diverse community in the metropolitan area and beyond\, the Embassy has decided to open its doors to the community for an opportunity to re-introduce/discover Haiti through its arts\, music\, history and a curated exhibit of the Haitian contributions to American society. \nWhat You Can Expect: Every guest is warmly welcomed with a Haitian cocktail and a guided tour of the renovated historic Chancery as well as the curated exhibit while enjoying the sounds of Kompa and Zouk. The evening is also an opportunity to meet the Ambassador\, members of our staff and connect with the community at large. \nWhen: Every Wednesday and Thursday; 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm \nThe Embassy’s doors are open to hosting professional and social organizations in the area. You may contact us to inquire more information on booking your group at amb.washington@diplomatie.ht.

DESCRIPTION:As part of our Soft Diplomacy – School Visit initiative\, the Embassy will host Albion College\, a private liberal arts college located in Albion\, Michigan for a visit at the Embassy. Affiliated with the United Methodist Church\, it was founded in 1835 and was the first private college in Michigan to have a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. \nThis educational initiative is designed to offer schools at all grade levels and universities an opportunity to re-discover Haiti and learn more about its rich history and culture through a presentation and guided tour of the renovated historic Chancery. The visits take different forms\, tailored to the dynamic\, grade level and curriculum of the group. SUMMARY:The Seventh Class of the Embassy Cooking Series
DESCRIPTION:The seventh class is cooking series is designed to offer the Washington community an opportunity to experience classic Haitian gastronomy and its influential roots from Haiti’s finest culinary professionals. The next class is scheduled to take place on Saturday\, March 25\, 2017 with celebrated Chef Alain Lemaire. \nAlain Lemaire is an award winning chef out of South Florida. He is the Co-owner and Executive Chef of Sensory Delights\, LLC\, Arome Catering\, both full service catering companies based out of South Florida and Haiti respectively. He is a native of Port-au-Prince\, Haiti\, where he first discovered his interest in cooking. Later on\, he developed an increasing passion for food and food service which led him to attend the Culinary program at the acclaimed Johnson & Wales University. Thanks to his heritage and having spent most of his career in South Florida\, Caribbean and Latin flavors play a major role in Chef Lemaire’s style of cooking: “fresh\, bold and in your face!” as he would say it. \nChef Lemaire has appeared on Cutthroat Kitchen\, the Food Network\, and has received the Couple’s Choice award for two consecutive years. \nTo join the waiting list for an opportunity to join one of the classes\, please send us an email at amb.washington@diplomatie.ht.

DESCRIPTION:The cooking series is designed to offer the Washington community an opportunity to experience classic Haitian gastronomy and its influential roots from Haiti’s finest culinary professionals. Now\, in its fourth month\, the next class is scheduled to take place on Sunday March 4\, 2017 with celebrated culinary curator\, Nadege Fleurimond.  \nNadege Fleurimond is a caterer\, author\, entrepreneur and event curator living life up in New York City. Utilizing her Haitian culinary background as a guide\, Fleurimond pulls a world of flavors from Asian\, Latin American and European Cuisines to create tasty events that inspire\, motivate and unify. Her catering company\, Fleurimond Catering has catered for companies and institutions such as Ann-Hauser Busch\, Columbia University\, New York City Hall\, BET News\, and The Colbert Report\, as well as notable individuals such as Vivica A. Fox\, Al Jareau\, and Dr. Memet Oz’s organization Healthcorps. \nNadege is the author of two books. In Taste of Life\, part cookbook\, part memoir\, Taste of Life offers readers an opportunity to view their own lives through a culinary lens and appreciate the beauty of food\, family\, friends\, and tasty pleasures. The book is a humorous journey into the life of Nadege Fleurimond as she navigates her way through the world of food and the personal experiences with her family\, friends and acquaintances she encounters. Her recently release\, Haiti Uncovered\, is a coffee table travel guide that delves into the Art of Haitian Cuisine and brings into focus the beauty of Haiti through its diverse culinary traditions there by offering Haitians and non-Haitians an opportunity to explore and learn. The beautifully bound and illustrated\, hard cover book\, presents and represents the dishes\, recipes\, and cooking traditions\, from all the 10 geographical Departments. \nNadege graduated with a degree in Political Science from Columbia University. She is the Founder of the Young Culinary Masters(YCM)\, a mission to educate the youth about maintaining a healthy lifestyle. She is also the recipient of the New York Media Alliance’s Ethnic Press Fellowship for 2010 covering the education beat.
