Professor of French and Linguistics

marcelle racineDr. Marie Marcelle B. Racine is professor of French and Linguistics at the University of the District of Columbia. She has served the University on numerous committees and in various administrative capacities, including Chair of the Department of Foreign Languages, and Associate Dean and Acting Dean of the College of Liberal and Fine Arts. Dr. Racine received a “Certificat de Licence” from the University of Lille (France), a Master’s degree in Romance Languages from Howard University and a Ph.D. in French and Linguistics from Georgetown University. Dr. Racine was also the recipient of a fellowship in higher education academic administration from the American Council on Education.

Professor Racine’s teaching and scholarship focus on French and Creole languages, linguistics and literature, as well as Francophone literatures and cultures. She also works on critical education issues, facilitates professional development and collaborates in research, planning for transformational change and assessment of student learning.
