On the evening of Thursday, July 18, 2019, Ambassador Hervé H. Denis, Chargé d’Affaires, hosted a cocktail to welcome members of the Haitian Parliament to Washington, DC. The delegation consisted of the Honorable Caleb J. Desrameaux, Deputy of Tabarre, the Honorable Guerda Benjamin Bellevue Deputy of Savanette, the Honorable Abel Descollines, Deputy of Mirebalais. For the occasion, the Embassy invited key members of the community in various sectors to meet and engage with the delegation. Attendees included religious leaders, Haitian designers and artists, Haitian entrepreneurs, Haitian professionals (doctors, teachers, and lawyers), influential millennials of Haitian descent, the media, and other concerned members of the Haitian Diaspora.

During the evening, the members of the Parliament delegation shared their work, both successes and challenges, with the audience and offered the guests an opportunity to engage and partake in the conversation through a Q&A segment. The discussion covered topics ranging from Diaspora engagement and investments, voting rights and processes, employment creation, the implementation of sustainable infrastructures in Haiti, and education.
