January 1, 1804 – January 1, 2019 marks the 215th anniversary of Haiti’s independence establishing the country as the first black free nation in the world.
On this solemn day, the Embassy of Haiti in Washington, DC pays a special tribute to our ancestors who overcame one of the greatest triumphs in the history of mankind. We also seize the opportunity to wish our Haitian compatriots and
friends a happy independence celebration and a very happy new year.

1er janvier 1804 – 1er janvier 2019 ramène le 215eme anniversaire de l’indépendance d’Haïti comme la première République noire indépendante du monde.
En ce jour solennel, l’Ambassade d’Haïti à Washington, D.C. a une pensée spéciale pour nos ancêtres qui ont réalisé cette gigantesque épopée pionnière et unique dans toute l’histoire de l’humanité. Elle profite, par ailleurs, de cette occasion pour souhaiter une bonne fête de l’indépendance et une heureuse année 2019 à tous les chers compatriotes haïtiens.
